Looking for professional folk and hip hop dancers, beat boxers and musicians.
Folk Dance Remixed is a groundbreaking company creating unique fusions between Folk and Hip Hop styles with live music. Led by Artistic Directors Kerry Fletcher and Natasha Khamjani, the company rediscover old traditions through contemporary forms.
We are hosting an artist sharing day where dancers will have the chance to learn some hip hop & folk dance, and beat boxers will collaborate with musicians. It’s a fantastic opportunity to join in a creative, inspiring and fun workshop day and meet new artists. To get a taste of our work check out our media page.
We are partnered and supported by East London Dance and the English Folk Dance and Song Society and are currently supported by Arts Council England. We are creating a new show, Step Hop House, and developing our Street Dance the Maypole workshops and Ceilidh Jam experience. We’ve had 2 hugely successful summer tours so far and we’re looking forward to making 2015 the best yet!

We’ve been out and about this spring and summer with Street Dance the Maypole workshops, Pop Up Ceilidh Jams and occasional performances of our short shows. We’re also delighted to have been working with members of the brilliant Climax Ceilidh Band and, with our fabulous fiddle player and beatboxer, we now have a brand new band, The Ceilidh Jammers. They’ve been getting people up and dancing with our fabulously fun, folky, funky Ceilidh Jams!

We had 150 school children at our Street Dance the Maypole workshops and performed our short show in Swindon town centre as part of their wonderful St Georges Day celebrations – Giant St George was there too!

We headed North for another a morning Street Dance the Maypole and afternoon performance of our short show. We were delighted to be part of this amazing festival!

We hosted workshops by the Cutty Sark and Ceilidh Jam at the bandstand… with Climax Ceilidh band and the amazing beatboxer, Grace Savage! The Tall Ships were a wondrous sight too!
Saturday 20th September
Mimbre Circus Central Festival, Hackney, London
We were delighted to be invited back to Mimbre’s fabulous Circus Central Festival! We performed our shortest show, Keeping it Real with the 5 Hand Reel, and got the audience up with a Street Dance the Maypole workshop and Ceilidh Jam – much fun!

City Diversions Festival, Chelmsford, Essex
Our maypole was centre stage right in the city centre! Working again with the fabulous Climax Ceilidh Band, we ran Street Dance the Maypole workshops and Ceilidh Jam Pop Ups in the day and a Ceilidh Jam early evening as part of the grand Finale… brilliant day!

We were booked by Continental Drifts to be part of their Folk Day at the newly opened Olympic Park. We hosted two Street Dance the Maypole workshops and two Ceilidh Jam Pop Ups. We have been invited by Continental Drifts to be a part of their Global Local scheme in 2014, where they link festivals with new and groundbreaking companies and artists.
It was a night of fun and frolics set in the beautiful Cecil Sharp House—the heart of English folk song and dance. The Company presented Step Hop House and a chance for all to dance with a Street Dance the Maypole workshop and our second Ceilidh Jam Session—a funked up social dance for all—it was a big hit!

Step Hop House was part of an extraordinary anniversary show at Stratford Circus. We performed outside in Theatre Square on the 12th in the theatre at Stratford Circus on the 13th Ceilidh Jam Pop Up performances and workshops in and outside the foyer and after the show we hosted our first ever Ceilidh Jam which was a huge success!
