• Olympic Success!

    Wow! We had a fantastic weekend at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 8-9 August 2015!

    Thanks to East London Dance, we curated our own festival as part of Go East Fest! and took over the fountain stage with Step Hop House, Street Dance the Maypole workshops and Ceilidh Jams.

    We also invited Corey Baker Dance to join us with their Maori dance and Haka workshops.

  • CarFest North – more recruits!

    We travelled up to Cheshire for CarFest North – and it was FAB!

    Here’s one of our happy workshop crew!  We’re back at CarFest at the end of August – this time in Hampshire.  Hope to see you there!

  • Celebrate our new commission!

    We are thrilled to announce that we have been commissioned to create a new piece by Brent Council to celebrate the opening of their new Cultural Space in Willesden and to celebrate the Rugby World Cup. The new commission will be performed on 12th September, followed by an almighty Ceilidh Jam!

    This means we have received our 3rd batch of funding from Arts Council England…do we get to be in Wikipedia yet? Pleased to say that the talented Dogan Mehmet will be composing as well as performing this new piece… There won’t be a Maypole insight!!

  • Folk Dance Remixed Artist Sharing 27 April 2015

    Looking for professional folk and hip hop dancers, beat boxers and musicians.

    Folk Dance Remixed is a groundbreaking company creating unique fusions between Folk and Hip Hop styles with live music. Led by Artistic Directors Kerry Fletcher and Natasha Khamjani, the company rediscover old traditions through contemporary forms.

    We are hosting an artist sharing day where dancers will have the chance to learn some hip hop & folk dance, and beat boxers will collaborate with musicians. It’s a fantastic opportunity to join in a creative, inspiring and fun workshop day and meet new artists. To get a taste of our work check out our media page.

    We are partnered and supported by East London Dance and the English Folk Dance and Song Society and are currently supported by Arts Council England. We are creating a new show, Step Hop House, and developing our Street Dance the Maypole workshops and Ceilidh Jam experience. We’ve had 2 hugely successful summer tours so far and we’re looking forward to making 2015 the best yet!

    Folk Dance Remixed are looking to expand our company pool by hosting an Artists Sharing day on Mon 27 April, 10am-4pm at Cecil Sharp House, London NW1 7AY.

  • Good news!

    We are overjoyed to tell you that we have been successful with our Arts Council funding for this summer 2015 – thank you!!!

    Also, with huge thanks to our partners, East London Dance and the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) and to all those who have performed with us, supported us, liked a post, been to a show, taken part in a workshop – your support has been fabulous!

    We will be developing our performance work and Ceilidh Jams with a fabulous bunch of talented dancers and musicians and can’t wait to get going! We’ll then be getting out there to YOU on our tour of festivals and events all over the country. So keep your eyes on the dates page, Facebook and Twitter!

  • Spring and summer 2014…

    We’ve been out and about this spring and summer with Street Dance the Maypole workshops, Pop Up Ceilidh Jams and occasional performances of our short shows. We’re also delighted to have been working with members of the brilliant Climax Ceilidh Band and, with our fabulous fiddle player and beatboxer, we now have a brand new band, The Ceilidh Jammers. They’ve been getting people up and dancing with our fabulously fun, folky, funky Ceilidh Jams!

    We had 150 school children at our Street Dance the Maypole workshops and performed our short show in Swindon town centre as part of their wonderful St Georges Day celebrations – Giant St George was there too!

    Our maypole was centre stage right in the city centre! Working again with the fabulous Climax Ceilidh Band, we ran Street Dance the Maypole workshops and Ceilidh Jam Pop Ups in the day and a Ceilidh Jam early evening as part of the grand Finale… brilliant day!
